What is “Peak TV” and is it a problem for media consumers?

  • Many consider 2000’s through now the Golden Age of TV. There are more highly rated Network/Cable/and primetime shows at once than at any other time in television history.
  • Many entertainment professionals feel that this is a major problem for TV lamenting the fact that many great shows that would typically be home runs in the 90’s are getting low viewership or even canceled despite the high quality.
  • In 2014 there were less than 300 scripted shows being made each year. 2017 is set to surpass over 500 scripted shows.
  • How do you feel about this? Is too much good TV a good or bad thing?
  • How many shows can you REALLY watch?
